STAR RUBY

It was obtained from the seed of the Hudson specie in America by artificial mutation. It entered into Turkey from Adana in 1981. Its trees are medium fertile. It has a tendency to spread fast in Turkey. It is one of the most exported species. However, it is the grapefruit specie whose cultivation is the most difficult in the world. Its cultivation is quite difficult. It grows slowly and as its branches are very thick and leaf- abundant, it prevents the growth of the fruit.

Its Nature: The fruit peel is red, smooth and thin. Its peel is tightly attached to the flesh. The fruit peel and flesh are red coloured. The number of seeds is low. It is a durable specie.

Its Flavour: Its acid is lower than other grapefruits. It is very juicy and very delicious. It does not have bitterness, contains high sugar.

Its Season: Its fruits ripen in the months of December and January. It is suitable rather for fresh consumption.

Ruby RED

Ruby Red grapefruit was grown in Texas in 1926 as a mutation of Pink Marsh. It bears fruit regularly every year. It is the most widely grown specie after the marsh seedless grapefruit in Turkey.

Its Nature: Its peel is yellowish and rough. It is moderately attached to the fruit flesh. The flesh of the fruit is partially light pink and has few seeds.

Its Flavour: It is a juicy, aromatic and high quality specie. 

Its Season: It is a mid-season specie and the fruits are harvested in in the midst of December-January. It is suitable to carry. Once the star ruby season is over, the Ruby Red specie continues for a while. It can be stored for 4 months.
